- Cat-in-the-Hole.
Cat-in-the-Hole is an old game of Duleek. It is played something like Cricket but instead of a bat you[?] have a stick and a spool instead of a ball. The hole is instead of the wicket. This is the way to play it.
Two teams are drawn and one team gets first bat and the other bowls you[?] with the spool. The rest of the team are out fielding, and one behind the hole. When the person hits the spool the rest try to catch it. If they succeed the person is out, but if they do not he runs to the bowler's place which is marked with a stone or something. This run is counted up in the score and the same with every run. When a spool goes far away there are boundaries for two, four, six, runs.- Bailitheoir
