At the time of the Penal days in Ireland the Priests were on the run. People say there was seven priests living in the Cave or hole in the Rock it is about ten furlongs from the top of the rocks, they had a big flat stone as a door. They lived there for about ten years or more. They used to say Mass between two rocks or a big flat stone. People say that the Blessed Virgin appeared on this flag stone.
The fields in the right hand side of the Cave, there is a big stone about two ton weight and there is the finger prints on it and the print of the toes of the feet. People say they used to say their prayers and say Mass on it.
One time a man was sent to break the stone as it was in the way in the field. He started to break it, but he was only able to take a splinter out of it. The man could not break any more of the stone, but soon after he broke his two legs. The stone is still to be seen and the splinter our of it.
