In the top house lived a man called Man Maguire. He was suspected of being a croppy. The police got false witnesses to swear that Man Maguire was a croppy.
Although he swore he was innocent he was hanged at the Tholsel.
Every night since then Maguire's ghost is seen on top of the quarry.
- A Bean-side"This is a true story it happened to my own Sister about fifty years ago at Old Hill in the Parish of St. Mary's Drogheda.
