- St Colm Cille's Well, Shallon, Drogheda(Photo x 2)
In the village of Shallon near Drogheda there is a well which is called St Colm Cille's well. This well it is said was blessed by him when he was passing it on his way to visit a friend. How he came to bless it. It is said that he was thirsty and took a drink out of it. The water was so cool and refreshing that he blessed it.The people of Shallon many years ago got a statue of St. Colm Cille and put it in the wall beside the well. There is a wall built around it to prevent cattle from getting in to it. It is believed never to have run dry even in the hottest seasons.
