When a person has sore eyes or if their eyes were running water, if they asked an old person how to cure them they would be told to bathe them in red cold tea.

For a sore throat the old cure is to fill an old stocking with roasted salt and put it round the throat as hot as you can bear it and as the salt is getting bad the throat is getting better.
Sprains
The old cure for a sprained wrist, or a sprained ankle is to get the purple flower of the march malice which is very rare. Cut it up in small pieces and put it on the sprain and it will cure it.
Stys
If you have a sty and you ask an old person for a cure you will be told to get a thorn of a gooseberry bush. Make the sign of the cross on the thorn and do that(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
