  1. At the mouth of the Boyne there stands a very old tower and beside it there is a small one called Litter Thimble. A long time ago there was a maiden who decided to marry a soldier. One day her husband got a message to go to war with England. He promised her that if he was alive coming home he would rise a white flag and if he was dead a black flag would be flying.
