- In olden days, the people of Drogheda, knew the uses and cures of herbs. They would boil chicken weed and growncell and oatmeat to make poultices for boils and abscesses. Another curative of herbs was marshmallow. It was a cure for pains and sprains. It would be boiled down and the affected parts of the body steeped in its juices. Young dandelions was another cure greatly in use among the older people living in Louth. They would boil it for a cure for a chest and lung trouble.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
