Every day the horse would go to Drogheda with two bags thrown across his back, and when he came to a shop next to the wooden house in Shop Street he would snort and snore until he got an answer. This daily message was loaves of bread for the poor in the district, and when his bags would be full he would return to the Friar safely with them. At this time there lived also in the district a poor man with his wife and children. The Friar had got a bad report about his man's character, so he stopped his allowance.
