- About 50 years ago there was a bleach-green, linen mills etc in Collon which gave employment to 50 men.
The linen mills were owned by Sheckleton and Co., and Corn Mulls were Mc Givney's.
There was a market held in the market square on Mondays, and a Fair on the last Friday of the month. There is neither fair nor market now.
There is a Windmill above the Bleach which used to grind the Meal for the Monks of Mellifont.
The mason work of this Windmill is quite good yet after 400 years.The Mc Keever family came for the North and had a Hat Factory at Mossycon.
