Hard looms for weaving linen were very common in used in the factory house up the Priest's Hill. There is a stretch of land at Collon called the "Bleach", where linen was bleached in years gone by.
There was also a tanyard in Collon in days gone by and a bakery where Mr Sherlock now lives. - More than sixty years ago a linen mill, the chimney of which still stands in sight of trhe village, employed a vast number of workes here.
