It is then churned until the curds break, then boiling water mixed with cold water is poured into it this is supposed to hasten the butter on the milk.
If a person entered the house while the churning was in progress the common salutation heard is "God bless the work", then the visitor takes a turn at the churning, and if they did not do this they are said to take all the butter with them.
Churning continues for about twenty minutes or half an-hour, then the butter is lifted with a skimmer and put into a wooden dish, then it is washed until no sign of milk appears in the water.
