   John McEnaney, the bard of Callanberg is still living but is now crippled with rheumatism in Castleblayney hospital. He is now a man of about 65 years and the house in Callanberg where he lived is now in ruins. He is crippled with rheumatism and he declares that the curse of rheumatism follows every poet.
   A few of his songs:-
   "The deck beside the road"
   "The kindly Thomas Kirk,
   That gave the timber free.
   And the joiner, Jimmie Murray,
   He left it as you see.
   And the Scotchman, Tom Gilmartin,
   Whose praises are all echoed
   For the ground he gave it gratis,
   For the deck beside the road."

   And on the Sunday after,
   What a crowd assembled there,
   From Dundalk, Carrick, Crossmaglen and Louth it sent its share,
   The musician James Drumgoole, how sweet his music flowed,
   Across the bogs and marshes,
   From the deck beside the road.
