  1. My Home Townland.
The name of my home townland is Kilcroney. It got it's name from the "Church of the Weeping".
In the real old times some called it "barawan". At present there are twenty five families in it.
It's population consists of one hundred and twenty.
The houses are both slated and thatched, the bigger part of them are slated.
Kierans and Woods are common names in the townland.
There are only two old people over seventy years and they don't belong to the old generation of Kilcroney.
Roughly there were five houses long ago for the one nowadays.
Some of the old walls are to be seen still.
Fifty or sixty years ago most of the youth went to America, England, Australia and many other countries and some of them never returned home.
Kilcroney's land consists of one very large hill and a little boggy. The rest is all good ground and fit to grow any crop.
