Although we in Dromiskin have not or had not any men who have become famous for their poetical powers we have a few who made an attempt at composing poetry. The following is a poem which is a parody of the song "on the stone outside Dan Murphys door". It was written by Thomas Duffy, who although not now a resident of the parish was born here -
Dan Murphy was to be evicted,
because he had paid too much rent,
But he swore he would not leave his cabin
If the whole British army was sent.
They told him if he would not "pull out",
They they'd level his roof to the floor,
When that news we heard, we quickly prepared(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
