A famous king who proved to be a match for the Danes in this district died here and was buried in on of the graveyards, whether in the village one or in the one in White House it is not known. The rath overlooking the village from the south known as Doyles Rath is thought by some to mark his resting place.
The King referred to is Aedh Finnliath (Hugh of the Yellow Beard). According to the Chronicon Scotorum he "died at Druim inasglainn on the 12th of the Kalends of December on the 6th day of the week (i.e. 21st Dec) 879"
