Instruments not used now
Written by Patrick Mc Ardle, Courtbane
Told by his father
The way people ploughed the
ground long ago was with wooden
ploughs. The sock was made of
oak.
The way people used to drink
their tea and eat their
porridge was out of noggins. Their
was a handle on a noggin
like a mug, but it was wooden.
There were little hoops on it
like a tub. It is not used
now.
A griosad was a instrument
for making candles. There were
two kinds of candles, a rush
candle and a resin candle.
The better kind of the two was
the rush candle. The resin
used to be spitting. They used
to skin the rush and they
would run the rush
a couple of times through the
grease till a thick kin was on(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
