- There are short pithy ways of saying wise things in every language. In this country they are mostly in Irish but there are many English proverbs in this district.
"Far away hills are green." This is said when a person leaves work at home and goes away to some other country. It is sometimes said, "Far away cows have long horns" and then when they come home again in a bad way it is said: "Far away cows have long horns but they often come home milies.
Other proverbs used in the district are: "Too many cooks spoil the broth."
"Empty vessels make most noise."
"Where theres a will there's a way."(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
