  1. Here are some proverbs from the Gaelic which are not found in any other language:
    It is not every day that Manus kills a bullock,
    It is not the big stones alone that build the castle,
    Every hound is a pup until it hunts
    It is not on one foot that Paterick came to Ireland
    The man on the grass is a good rider
    Ireland for a penny, but where is the penny
    When a man says every day that he will settle down and do a certain task to-morrow and breaks his promise we say,
    Thats the hens journey to Scotland
    When the Gael wishes to describe whiteness he says:-
    As white as the foam on the rock, or as white as the Virgins garment, or as white as the soul of a child.
