    a short period he became a prosperous man by drawing heavy rents from the tenants on his estate.
    In time there grew a great state of unrest among the people of the district. They protested against such a money-grabbing land-lord. They continued to harass him by every means in their power and so at length he thought of moving his residence to a more peaceful place. He selected this small lonely island a few hundreds yards from a point in the mainland.
    Here he built a strong fortress where his enemies could not reach him. He lived there for many a year, and although hundreds of years dead, local fisher-men say, that they sometimes see the ghostly figure standing among the ruins as they pass through the Lough.
