  1. A number of men were sitting round a fire in Carlingford hotel one night telling stories of their narrow escapes from danger. There was a break in the conversation, and one man said to another who was sitting silently in the corner "Mr. Dolau, I am sure, with all your travels, you could tell us a story about yourself."
"I have only story", he said. "During the twelve or thirteen months I was out in Africa I was found of shooting wild animals. One day while I was out and had amused myself all day shooting, I had turned to come home, as it was getting dark. As I was walking home I saw a huge lion coming towards me. Behind me was a wall which was very high. I fired a shot at the lion, but in my terror I missed him. "Yes. Yes, said all the men, "and what happened then? "What happened then"? he said, "sure the lion came up and ate me, of course".
