My father David Manning told me the following story
In my uncles farm at Courtapurteen there is a large stone stuck into the ground. It is five feet over the ground but it looks as if a great deal of it is worn away. I heard my father say that there was the print of a giant's hand on it before it was worn away.
There is an old story told about this stone.
It is said that long ago a giant was hunting in,"Preacan" a townland on the east side of Kinsale Harbour.
As he looked across the harbour he saw a sheep on the other side. He stooped down and picked up a stone and threw it across the harbour at the sheep.
TThe stone landed in Courtapurteen which was straight across the harbour from "Preachain"
It is supposed that that is how the stone happened to be in Courtapurteen.
