The usual amount of money given in each house is sixpence but if the wren boys are known and respectable looking they get a shilling or two.
The money that is collected provides a good soiree and dance for the crowd that might in some neighbours house. There is plenty of drink and a good supper provided and everyone comes home in the small hours of the morning well pleased with the night given by the "wren boys". Nowadays these boys come all the way from Quilty on lorries and bring their own Céidhle band with them and create a stir in the village as all the children follow them about from(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Faisnéiseoir
