About half a mile from Lahinch, there is an old road leading down to the sea at Cregg. Down this road people go to get seaweed.

the house the people forgot about him, there was only a button & a bit of his coat found next morning in the debris. The soldiers then went up the street and burned O'Dwyer's drapery establishment and Halfin's public house. They then went on the road to Miltown & the first house they visited was Dan Lahan's. This was about 1 A.M. The soldiers ordered Dan out of the house. He protested and argued with them. It is said that if he had gone quietly they would not have shot him, but Dan was an obstinate man, and he said "Why should this be done to me." Before he was shot at the gate near his house he sent his servant girl, Delia Kane, back for Sovereign's which he had hidden under the bed. The girl got the sovereigns all right. Old Dan was not killed outright. He lived for a couple of months after he was wounded.
