About a half a mile from Lahinch, there is an old road leading down to the sea at Cregg. Down this road people go to get sea-weed. Long ago there was a man named Liddy living near this road where the Lehances are now. He put a gate in the old road and gave orders that no one was to go down to the sea for sea-weed or anything else from the shore without his permission. One night the gate was broken down and there was never a gate put there since. Liddy was so curious that when he saw the gate knocked down that he almost lost his senses. People said that he was cursed because very soon afterwards he lost his eye-sight.
When Liddy died his farm was taken over by a man named Daniel Lehan R. I. P. He was a native of Carhugar near Lahinch, and was wounded the night Lahinch was burned by(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Faisnéiseoir
