  1. Many years ago the king of Connaught plundered Corcomroe, the people of Liscannor sent for St Mac Creehy, who at the time lived in Tipperary. They wanted the saint to get back their goods from the king. St Maccreehy met the king who at first refused to give back their property to the people. But the king suffered from fever and thirst all that night, and as he believed it was the prayers of the saint that caused his suffering, he immediately came and delivered up all he had taken from the people. The saint lived afterwards in Liscannor. When he was dieing, he ordered that his coffin should be placed on the strand, so that the tide may carry it away, and where it might be cast ashore again, he requested that he should be buried there. The coffin was cast on the shore just where the present old church stands and the saint was buried there.
