Maire Ruadh who lived in Lemeneigh Castle was said to have a great steed.There was a man named O'Loughlin or
(Máistín Caoch na Cruaiche) who at Maire Ruadh's displeasure was compelled to mount this steed,which was seven years in the stable,or he would be killed. The horse took a great jump, and the townland is called after it, : "léim-an eich"(the horse’s leap)

After passing Lemeneigh Castle he saw a sow approaching him with two firy eyes. He stood in the middle of the road and he drew three circles around with a hazel stick he had in his hand. The sow could not
come inside this circle. Then a cock crew and the sow
bounded into the air and disappeared into Carron
