    The bride-groom borrows a sovereign or a half sovereign which he places under the ring on the bride’s hand She is supposed to buy something for the house with it. When the couple to be married are leaving their home an old shoe is thrown after them for good luck. If a person lit his pipe while the churn was being made he should not go away without putting the size of his head in it, if not it would never be made.
