55. A Trumpet was found in Buaile Bhriain Kilmaley by Dan Greene on 31st August 1931 and is now in the National Museum in Dublin Gold armlet. Bronze trumpet found in a bog at Boolybrien and serving as a container for a hoard. The hoard comprised 11 chain links, one of he finest "sun flower pins" ever found in Ireland, 2 socketed ones 1 sword handle, 2 plain rings, and 3 rings with lateral apertures. Late Bronze age)55 In 1932 a Sword or battle axe was found near the fort or Cill in Michael Frost's land, Kilclogher, Kilmaley. Mr Frost buried the sword again, and said "Some warrior fell by the sword, so we will leave him to rest and the sword too".
Mr Frost is at present a patient in the Ennis Mental Hospital.41. Fr Dan Lynch built the present Kilmaley Church over 100 years ago .The stones for the church used to be brought by men from Shyan and Letteragh in bags on their backs. The masons were paid 2d a day, and the men attending them 1d per day. They used to live on a meal of boiled turnips prepared nearby. The total cost of the building of the church was £14.
