- The Hidden treasure.
Near Ballinahinch there stands an old castle. It is said that gold is hidden in some part of it. How this came to be known by the people is a queer story.
One dark, stormy night, about two years ago a man named Jack Walsh was coming from a fair, when, passing near the castle he heard a noise in the briars. He was frightened at first but soon regained courage and went to investigate.
To his great surprise he saw a small, wizend looking man carrying a sack of gold. Before he had time to say a word the little man vanished. He was never seen there afterwards. Pat Egan heard this from his father Richard Egan 55 yearsGolden- Bailitheoir
