A Story.
Near Golden in a mansion there lived a man named Parson Whitty.
He used go around collecting the tithes.
One day while he was collecting these he was killed. It is stated that he was after leaving a farmhouse when he met a workman in a field. This man had no great esteem for Parson Whitty so he killed him with a stroke of a fork which he had at the time.
He was arrested, but there was no proof as to his guilt and he was acquitted. The Parson is said to have been seen in the spot where he was murdered.
Patrick Egan heard this story from his father Richard Egan
Golden.
