  1. Food in Olden Times
About seventy or eighty years ago the people used to have potatoes for nearly every meal.
They also had porridge, sometimes the porridge was cooked early in the morning for the day's meals and it used to be put in dishes on the windows sills to cool.
They also used to have butter milk and plenty of home made butter along with the potatoes.
With common yellow meal they used to make the porridge.
A large vessel of porridge used to be left in the middle of the floor and all the children used to sit around it with spoons to eat it.
