  1. A Snow Storm
It is now over forty years since the last heavy snow fall was in Tipperary.
The night before the storm the wind was from the North East and the weather dry.
People were not expecting snow and when they went to open their doors in the morning judge of their surprise to find banks of snow against the wall of the house.
Some of the houses which were turned towards the North East could scarcely be seen at all because the snow covered them.
The people had to get shovels to dig a path in the snow to go out to get food for their animals.
Many sheep and cattle perished on mountains and on hillsides.
The snow was eight feet high in many places.
Though it snowed in February there were strong traces of it in the mountain hollows in June.
