  1. Cappagh Castle
    In Cappagh there stands a castle. It belongs to an early period.
    It was erected by the Normans in the early centuries. Two Burke brothers lived there, one of whom got jealous and killed the other.
    Long ago there was a road under ground from the Castle to the river Aherlow, but a big rock fell from the Castle and closed up the entrance to it. A short distance away from the Castle stands a small circular house with small holes in it. This was a protection during wartime. The people inside could shoot through the holes. The Castle is now in ruins.
