  1. There is a spot that I adore,
It lies not far from Galtee Mór,
It nestles in a valley grand
    A beauty spot in Ireland,
They talk about their deep blue skies,
Of scenes of beauty and sunrise,
In other lands but have you seen,
    The country round old Ballyporeen.
Through fields of dew, I long to stray,
O'er shamrock graves, I long to pray,
Or stroll along the mountain side,
    Where ardent simple faith abides,
The young and old are coming down,
despite the rain from Darr na h-stann,
    From ditsant Galtees and Skeheen
    To early Mass in Ballyporeen.
    The Angelus is ringing now
The farmer halts behind his plough
Finds time to breathe and upturns the sod
A prayer to Mary and to God.
    They're singing the rosary to-day
For Erins Exile's far, far away
For many a son and fair colleen.
