How candles were made long ago.
People made their own candles long ago. They used to get hog's lard and melt it in a pot. Then they would get a long cord and cut it into pieces the lenght of a candle. They used to twist three of these together. They used to tie them to a stick and let them hang into the melted lard. They used to take them out and hang them up to cool. They used to dip them into the lard a second time and a third time until they were quite round and fit for use.
