  2. The most harmful weeds on the farm are thistles, dockroots, ragwort, Buacallain and spounch. They are very harmful because they impoverish the soil, and multiply rapidly.
    Most of them grow better on poor soil but the land is being ploughed, and manured better, and receiving more care now than formerly, and on account of this they are disappearing rapidly.
    Certain herbs are used for medicine, the chief of which are Dandelion Mushroom Red-Creeper, and Water-Cress.

    The dandelions when boiled produces a substance which is much valued as a remedy for Consumption
