  1. Ireland has always displayed a great fondness for games, and manly sports. Our history tells us many interesting feats of our ancestors. They played there games, mostly for enjoyment.
    Long years ago Thurles "Blues" and Holycross had a hurling match in Holycross. Thurles "Blues" came out the winners. Fifteen used always be on each side. Leather balls were always used for hurling. They used pieces of sticks as goal posts and hurleys made by themselves.
