- There was cholera in this country early in the last century and people were dying in hundreds.
The people dug a big deep hole or grave in Rathmoyne about a mile from the village. A man with a horse and cart used to go around the village, collect the dead, and put them in this pit.
If any person died from the plague a black cross was put on the door of the house when he died.
A few years ago a man was levelling the ground and found some human bones. He at once ceased digging and put back the clay.
