    Roinn Roinn Postáil
    The houses in olden times were built far differently than the ones of the present day. They were built in the most sheltered places to be found. They were mostly built of mud and turf and were thatched with rushes. Inside the houses they were sealed with sticks but a straight stick was never used as the old people counted it unlucky. The floors were made of gravel and lime mixed together. The houses usually consisted of one or two rooms and a kitchen, with one very small window in each apartment.
