  1. Shops were not plentiful long ago in Ireland except a shebeen here and there. There was only one shop in Clarina and it was owned by a woman named Dia Whack. There were two in Mungret about a hundred years ago. One of them was owned by a woman called Maig Moloney. In it was sold two penny packets of tea, penny packets of sugar and two-penny loaves of bread. Poteen was soled secretely. The only sweets
