   The Prince of sport is now laid low,
   Joe Pickerville the Good;
   No more he'll stalk the wily fox
   Upon the shady wood.
   To all the people round sweet Adare
   He was a friend indeed;
   He always gave in justice,
   And mercy when in need,
   He heeded well the voice of truth,
   No matter how low down,
   And the one who would try to tell a lie
