In my young days they used to bake oatenmeal bread on the griddle. The griddle was called "The Mother Dubh." Tea was only used at Xmas and meat was only eaten on Xmas Day and Easter Sunday. Piggins were used as we used cups nows. They were shaped liked a barrel and had a piece of wood like the handle of a tub without any hole which you used as a handle.
