- Some years ago there was a steward in Castle Oliver
His name was Gallagher.
Some time after his death his Ghost appeared around the farmyard.
It was usual with him to try to crush people against walls. One man got such a crushing that his sides were all black and he was scarcely able to travel home.
On another occasion two men were sawing timber in the old road through the domain.
One of them was using an axe and he said it was a pity that Gallagher's head was not under the axe. Suddenly he appeared on the end of the block.
The two men ran away and left him timber and axe
Lady Ashton resided at the Castle at this time and she got very annoyed and brought the minister to try and get the Ghost removed.
It appears he had not power to do so. It was said that some priest from Kilfinane removed him back to Sea Finn Mountains from which he never returned.
