    Glenma, Gleann Máighe, a rather deep glen on the Maigue valley in Banogue parish has to its east level uplands which at no very considerable time ago had no intersecting fences. It was accordingly a suitable place for " coursing matches " - that is invariably the name which still survives among the older people for what press and people now call coursing meetings. At one of these " matches " the local curate had entered a dog, and the landlord of Gleann Máighe, one Ivers by name, was also represented in the contest. The final
