   There was once a man who made his living by catching leeches. There is a river near Ballynooken fort and early one morning he went up there for leeches. he wasn't there five minutes when he heard the crying and looking across he saw his sister combing her hair. She had been dead three years. he asked her how she was getting on and she answered she was getting on alright, but wanted to know if he would go with her. He said he couldn't as he had a wife and child at home. She said "Well Mick if I don't have you I must have someone belonging to you". he went home and found his child ill and was taking it to the doctor and on his way a woman passed him,who threw her shawl over the child and it died immediately.

But their butter was taken one year and all their labour had no result. They went to the P.P. and told him and he asked them when they would be churning again to let him know and to put down a good fire in the dairy. When next they made ready to churn they sent word to
