(ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)number of the weekly Freeman, some time after I had first heard the story, a ballad or poetic version which began, "There dwelt beside the Comeraghs.... brothers young and three". I think that version, of which I definitely remember only the opening line, was the product of an Irish language enthusiast who sought by that means to "Point a moral and adorn a tale".
- Some Stories of Biddy Early.Biddy Early lived for a time near Cnoc Firinne. Well then, if she didn't, her daughter lived there. She was banned by the Church, and you'd want to be a very tough man entirely to go to her. If you didn't know the road to where she lived you'd have no business in asking anyone for it, as they wouldn't tell you. I maintain she lived near Cnoc Firinne for some time at least, because I can tell you that some people brought her a patient from down the country. They put him in a bed in the car, a common car mind you, and they brought him as far as the cross of the six roads, and there they did not know which way to go and nobody would tell them. They were in a right pucker then and waited a while at the cross hoping that someone would come on and tell them which road to take. As luck would have it, who came the way only Biddy(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
