  1. Palm Sunday is the name given to the Sunday before Easter, it is kept in memory of Jesus Christ riding through Jerusalem on an ass and the people spread Palms on the way, so on Palm Sunday people wear Palm which is blessed by the Priest in memory of that time.
In Ireland people wear a piece of the Yew tree which is taken home and put up until the following Ash Wednesday when it is brought to the Priest who burns it and puts the shape of the cross on their foreheads.
Special services are held on Palm Sunday and special sermons are preached.
