   In former times there was not as much home made bread made as there is now, because they used have potatoes for their meals instead.

   Bread was made from wheat and oaten bread was also used. The wheaten flour was made in the mill, in the creamery in the Parish and they make it still.

   First the farmers of this Parish give in bags of wheat and they get it made into wheaten flour and they are charged so much a stone to mill it.

   When the old people used be baking bread they used have oblong ovens which were called querns. Grind stones were used formerly in this locality. When they could not afford to send it to the mill. They used also thresh it themselves with an old fashioned thresher and more people used beat the sheaves against a big rock in a barn or an out house and they used have some big cloth under the corn so that it would be easy to collect it up.
