- Spring Thoughts
A song with wild birds' melody
I yearn to sing today:
For my heart is glad with the joyful Spring,
And thrills with the robin's lay.
I walk with rapture through the woods -
A child of Nature - the world's goods
I spurn as things of clay.
Gladsome and bright is the youth of life
And fair as an April morn;
Our veins run fire, and our pulses throb,
On the rose we see no thorn.
Then Love hath wings on which we fly,
To breathe in dreamlands' purple sky
And air-castles to adorn.
Alas! that Springtime e'er should die,
That the birds should cease to sing;
And withered leaves our pathway strew
And hopes no comfort bring
Ah! Love hath wings on which we go
Down to the lowest depths of woe,
Where joy-bells never ring.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
