Ar an leathanach seo

  1. There are two forges in the parish. One almost beside Knockfierna Still owned by Michael Conway whose father was also a Smith.
    The other is in Ballinleena, owned by Ned Dooley. He is also the son of a Smith.
    They are both situated only a few hundred yds from Cross Roads, and are on the Road Side.
    As far as I know there is no local tradition connected with either of these forges, but the young people used to congregate there in the evenings at one time, and all local gossip was discussed at "The Forge"
    Every news was heard at the forges, and coming matches were always a topic of Conversation.
    If you could dip your hand into the forge water unknown to the Smith, it would banish warts. The same applied to corns in the feet.
